I'm not sure if I can agree to the sentiment that a wedding is "the bride's day" exactly, but what I can speak to is the fact that when the bride has fun - it is contagious!!
That's exactly what I got to experience when shooting Ashlea and Jordan's wedding at Meadow Creek Farm in Locust, NC. Not only that, but man was she GORGEOUS! Look at her....
Then there's the groom, Jordan. What a hilarious guy. From whipping his hair out of his pony tail to protecting Ashlea from getting pelted with glow sticks - he was, to put it in simple terms, awesome. Check him out...
To not delay any longer, here are some of my faves from their special day.
...and they lived happily ever after!
"Bringing words to life and life to words"
Last month I worked with an incredible non-profit called Floraffiti. The idea is that a person develops a poem (coached by Josephus of the Poetry Project) then select a key word from that poem that they plant in the ground with clover and ultimately perform their poem in front of their word for the Chapel Hill/Carrboro 2nd Friday Art Walk. This beautiful concept was started by visual linguist, Carter Hubbard.
Adults and high schoolers all came together to write and perform their poems. One high schooler in particular, Myasia Jarrett, let me capture her poem that I feel perfectly sums up what Floraffiti truly is. Here's a video of that poem titled "Imagination".

The craziest thing happened the other day - a phenomena I have truly never experienced. Two bugs (one of which was a fly) and a toad stood completely still for me to photograph them! Folks, I didn't have a long lens or any type of zoom situation. I was less than a foot from each of these beautiful creatures and they just let me do my business. So grateful for my little friends and their photogenic selves :)
Boy is this lady's smile contagious!
Alix and I became friends in high school and recently reconnected when we both moved back to Durham, NC. It's so funny how amidst all of the change and growth we go through in adulthood, we sometimes find ourselves even better friends than when we started. I remember Alix as such a talented, strong, fun-loving individual. In getting to know her again, I've found that she's all of those things still plus confidence that oozes out of her like a beautiful light! She's such an inspiration for adventuring through life - searching for happiness and giving love along the way.
Hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed creating them!
Of course, a session with me wouldn't be complete without a fun double exposure :)
Bright colors, flowers, sundresses, egg hunts - I love Easter time! It's especially fun with little kiddos around. This Easter I got to visit some friends I haven't seen in a while and they let me snap a few images of their sweet family.
As an adult, it can be hard to find good friends. It's extra hard to find good friends who will stay in touch when you live far away. Neal was David's (my husband) childhood best friend that he always introduces as his brother. Summer and I instantly clicked and have been such good friends since!
Cheers to a great Easter and many more to come!
Well, hello there. So glad you found yourself on this shwanky blog.
I've been producing photos/videos truly since I was in high school - but, officially I like to say 2012. I have so many interests in my life/work that makes it a bit hard to nail down sometime. Ultimately, I like to find what your passion and goal is and help you create media to promote and tell your story.
If your passion is your non-profit... let's create a video like this one for Floraffiti, TM.
If your passion is your business... how about let your clients rave about your services like this client testimonial for The Massimo Group.
If it's been too many years since you had a nice photograph of yourself... step outside your comfort zone with a boudoir shoot or a standard lifestyle/portrait session.
Whatever it is - let's work together to create something beautiful to affirm your passions and reach your goals.
